The patchy-looking pavement running straight ahead and through the chain link fence is along the former roadbed. The photographer is standing where the railroad used to cross Childs Road. The freight dock along the right side of the warehouse was very likely for loading to the railroad, based upon it's odd angle to the building (hard to see from here) and as there were several paper mills and other industries along the line. The railroad ran through where the chainlink gate in the right background of this picture is now, leading back toward the B&O mainline less than one mile mile away. |
